Ziggy and Eric are back with another in-depth look into the Universe of James Bond, 007! This episode takes a close look at the very beginnings of the very character of Bond, James Bond. The Origin story of Britain’s greatest secret agent… Casino Royale!

First, we forgo movies and discuss the epic first novel from Ian Fleming. We talk about the misogyny, the racism, the extreme violence, and why it’s a great book even though it’s author had some obvious character flaws.

Then we talk about the atrocity that was committed against the American public, and the character of Bond himself; otherwise known as Climax! Episode #3: Casino Royale. This TV special – filmed live – was the very first attempt to bring Bond to the screen. Unfortunately, it was not a job well done.

Finally in this episode, we discuss the 1967 “spoof” version of Casino Royale. A movie that had extremely little in common with it’s namesake.

So sit back, pop in some Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass, and enjoy!
