In this, our second installment, we delve back into the 007 universe to talk about 2 more of the Eon films.

First, we discuss one of the highlights of the entire franchise, Goldfinger! We go in-depth to talk about the villain, the evil plot, the gadgets, the girls and of course… that beautiful car.

Then we break from the order and jump ahead 11 films to talk about a lower point in the series, A View To A Kill. We talk about the chemistry (or lack thereof) between the cast, the similarities in plot to Goldfinger and all our normal points as well.

So kick back with a Vodka Martini, shaken not stirred, relax to some Beatles (with ear-muffs) and give us a listen!

Working on Goldfinger presently, as I’ve been looking to Fleming for inspiration in my own writing career. To be honest, I’ve yet to really detect too much outputting animosity. The books may not represent the excessive PC mindset we often see today, but I’ve just yet to discover any moments that are blatantly offensive. Regarding the conversion of Pussy Galore, I find that no more offensive than I would if a character of my own gender and preferences was seduced by a Casanova-like character. I’ll give Fleming the benefit of the doubt that the point was “Bond is just that irresistible” as opposed to “All lesbians would be hetero if they had a man to do the job for them.”

I can certainly understand that mindset. That’s why we love doing this show! We get to talk about how we interpret the writing, and find out how others understand it.

Given the scene between Bond and Silva in Skyfall, I’m even willing to lean a little more toward the “Bond can seduce anything with a pulse” mindset than I was before. haha
